The leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in Nigeria, have declared war on members of an opposition group known as , Ika Youths For Good Governance. The group which was established a few years ago has been carrying out steady and strong advocacy programmes aimed at installing good governance in Nigeria.
The leader of the popular group, Mr Silas Jason told news men during the week in Agbor, Delta State that the leaders of the ruling party in the country, APC, have declared war against him and his members for always carrying out advocacy and campaign programmes against the APC government.
Mr Silas Jason noted that his group was truly out to challenge the APC for their corrupt activities in government which unfortunately, have crippled the economy of Nigeria and left over 90 percent of Nigerians in poverty. He added that many of the roads in Nigeria are very bad, including federal high ways where passengers spend days on roads that were supposed to take hours.
The group also frowned at the shamble state of school buildings in the country, citing a special example with Owanta Primary School in Delta State where a Secretary to the Delta State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu hails from. At Owanta Primary School pupils were subjected to learn on bare floor on leaking and shattered roofs. The group due to its people centered activities received accolades from Nigerians urging it to remain focused in its selfless work for Nigerians. The group, in a recent statement from its leaders has launched a national campaign against the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC Candidates in the country in next year’s general elections. According to the group, the APC is a failed political party and cannot continue to govern Nigerians.
Meanwhile, the group’s leader, Mr Silas Jason has revealed that a total war has been declared against him and members of his group for campaigning against the APC and its Candidates. He disclosed that in their recent public activities some members of his group were attacked with dangerous weapons and locked up in police cells for days for telling Nigerians not to vote for the APC in next year’s polls. He further disclosed, that he has received several death threats if they did not stop their campaigns against the APC and its Candidates.
However, members of notable pressure groups in Nigeria such as the Ika Youths For Good Governance who are against the corrupt activities of the current government in Nigeria are beginning to seek refuge abroad as they are having fears that if, the APC wins the forthcoming 2027 general elections the death threats on their lives will be more.
