The Shettima Political Family recorded a massive turnout during its monthly general meeting held on Sunday, March 1, at the Shettima Dynasty Hostel in Alihame, Agbor, Delta State. Members gathered in large numbers in what turned out to be a vibrant and celebratory meeting marked by unity, commitment, and renewed political engagement.
Chairman Urges Members to Stay Focused
Speaking during the enlarged meeting, the Chairman of the group, Elder Agholor Ndudi Don, popularly known as Shettima, urged members to remain committed to the group’s objectives and continue working together toward shared political goals.
He explained that the political family, which currently has coordinators across Ika South and Ika North East Local Government Areas, remains loyal and supportive of the efforts of the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, in advancing development in Ika land and Delta State as a whole.
Shettima expressed delight at the rapid growth of the group since its formation late last year. According to him, membership has significantly increased, with participants drawn from the two local government areas that make up the Ika Federal Constituency.
He commended members for their dedication and contributions to the growth of the political family and assured them that their efforts would be duly rewarded if they remain steadfast and committed.
The chairman also applauded Senator Okowa for his developmental achievements during his tenure as governor and his continued contributions to the progress of his people even after leaving office.
Leadership Commends Growth of the Group
In his remarks, the Vice-Chairman of the group, Chief Dr. Victor Ikpon, praised the steady expansion of the Shettima Political Family.
He stated that members are proud to be part of a political movement focused on improving the lives of the people in the future. He further called for stronger commitment among members and emphasized the need for increased membership drive across communities.
Chief Ikpon reaffirmed his readiness to work with stakeholders to build the group into a formidable political force in the region.
Importance of Political Unity in Ika Constituency
Also speaking at the meeting, the Secretary of the group and Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Project Monitoring, Engr. Chief Henry Ebomah, highlighted the importance of the political family within the Ika Federal Constituency.
He encouraged members to intensify their efforts and continue working collaboratively to establish what he described as the largest political family in Ika South.
Other members who spoke during the meeting, including the Treasurer Chief Mandys Ikpon and the Coordinator for Ika North East LGA Hon. Uweoma Clifford Ogboi, expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved so far. They urged members to sustain their commitment toward strengthening the group for the collective benefit of all.
New Coordinators Inaugurated
A major highlight of the meeting was the inauguration of new coordinators to strengthen grassroots mobilization.
Those inaugurated include:
- Chief Bintu Odeh – Coordinator in Abavo
- Chief Alex Omeleze – Coordinator for Abavo persons living in Boji-Boji
- Esther Ekomaye – Coordinator for Yoruba residents in Boji-Boji
The newly appointed coordinators were charged to serve as strong ambassadors of the group and work actively to attract more members.
Easter Party Planned for Members
During the meeting, members also resolved to organize an Easter celebration party for the political family.
The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 5 (Easter Day) at Mandriano Hotel and Lounge, located along Ngbeken Street in Agbor.
Support for the event was kick-started by Chief Dr. Victor Ikpon, who generously donated ₦1,000,000 toward the Easter celebration. His contribution was warmly applauded by members of the group.
The meeting ended on a high note with members expressing optimism about the future of the Shettima Political Family and its role in strengthening political engagement and development within the Ika Federal Constituency.
