Elema family raises alarm over continued deadly attacks on heir apparent, Prince Onyeka Elema

The Elema family of Oki Community in Agbor, Delta State, Nigeria has raised an alarm over the continued deadly attacks on their son and a heir apparent to the community throne, Prince Onyeka Elema.

Speaking to journalists on the sad development, the mother of the embattled Prince Onyeka Elema, Mrs Florence Elema said that on the 31st day of May, 2025, at about 9.am, during the coronation ceremony of her son, Prince Onyeka Elema in their community some armed men invaded the venue and started shooting sporadically. She noted that the shootings caused serious panic and disorder in the community.

She revealed that during the attack her daughter, Priscilla Elema was shot on her left leg and was seriously injured, adding that several other persons sustained injuries too in the gun attack. While her son, Prince Onyeka Elema narrowly escaped death as his wife, Eunice Mekwuye and children ran to her parents house for safety and protection of their lives.

She told journalists during the interview that her daughter was still receiving treatment from the injury she sustained from the gun shots.

On further question about her son, Prince Onyeka Elema, she stated that he ran away from the community to his residence in Agbor town where he was also attacked on the 1st of June, 2025 by unknown gun men suspected to be connected to the same incident and they set his house on fire. Fortunately, his wife Eunice Mekwuye and her children were not at home when the daredevil gun men showed up in the house, as they had already relocated to her parents residence in Agbor, due to the earlier violent attacks against them.

. Meanwhile, at the time of writing this report, she declared that the whereabout of her son, Prince Onyeka Elema is still unknown. She asserted that her family is deeply traumatized, as a result of the attacks which was strongly believed was master-minded and carried-out by individuals loyal to Prince Onyeka Elema ‘s step-brother and other members of the extended family, opposing Prince Onyeka Elema’s coronation. She went further to say that the attacks were connected to the kingship tussle in the community after the death of her husband who was the former King.
